#38 - Redneck Zombies (1989)
Redneck Zombies (1989)
This film was shot entirely on video for almost no budget, and it shows - even the remastered DVD doesn't look a whole lot better than VHS. However, the shoddy quality only adds to the charm - this is an immensely entertaining low budget indie film. A barrel of toxic waste ends up in the hands a group of rednecks making moonshine, and of course some of the green goo gets into the still. Meanwhile, a group of victi... er, campers are in the area, partying and such. You can probably guess where the plot goes from there.
This is really more of a comedy film than horror, although there is definitely more than enough blood and gore here. The acting is also surprisingly decent, considering that this is the only film that most of these actors ever did. You can tell that the cast and crew had a really fun time making this movie, and that translates into it being a really fun film to watch. Highly recommended for fans of Troma films or any low budget gory comedies.
