#19 - The Others (2001)
Like The Haunting, this is another ghost story that relies more on tension and atmosphere than effects or gore. This one puts a few twists on the usual formula that keep it exciting and memorable. It's one of the only films I can think of where the scary things happen in the light, not the dark. It also sets itself apart in another way that it best discovered on your own, so I won't spoil anything here. Great acting, a creepy gothic atmosphere, a memorable story, and a couple of really great scares make this a great ghost story that is bound to be considered a classic someday.
