#21 - Blood Feast (1963)

Blood Feast (1963)

An "exotic" caterer collects body parts from various young beautiful women, with the intent of cooking them for a "blood feast" in honor of the ancient goddess Ishtar. Meanwhile, two completely inept detectives investigate the murders, and by "investigate" I mean sit around in their office and exchange lame dialogue. This movie features terrible acting, terrible directing, terrible music, terrible story... but great gore. In fact, this film (directed by horror icon Herschell Gordon Lewis) basically invented the "splatter" genre, ushering in a new level of gore and violence in American films that hadn't been seen before. It's a gory film even by today's standards.

This no-budget film is probably not worth watching unless you are interested in the history of horror cinema, or want a good laugh at the incredibly awful acting.
