#29 - The Terror (1963)
The Terror (1963)
I had to get at least one Roger Corman film in this year, but unfortunately it happened to be this one. This film features Boris Karloff and a very young Jack Nicholson, and there are some great atmospheric sets, but the story makes absolutely no sense. Nicholson is a French soldier who gets separated from his regiment, and meets a beautiful young woman by the sea. Following her, he gets attacked by a hawk (which he unsuccessfully tries to punch in the face) and passes out. Some creepy stuff happens, I think maybe the girl is a ghost or something, and then there are a couple of stupid twists that don't make any sense and by the end I was pretty lost as to what was going on. Karloff is great and pretty much saves the film from being a total mess, but this is still not a great film.
