#35 - Sick Nurses (2007)
Apparently, nurses in Thailand don't have a lot of patients to take care of, and spend most of their time giggling or having affairs with doctors. With a title like "Sick Nurses", you might think that these nurses are evil or twisted, but actually they are the victims in this movie, which is a pretty typical "ghost comes back for revenge" sort of Asian horror film. Also, the ghost has long scary hair and her face is mostly hidden by it. This movie isn't going to win any awards for originality, but I did enjoy it anyway.
The vast majority of the film is just the scantily-clad nurses being harassed and then killed by the ghost in various gruesome and creative ways. There is a story, but it's mostly pushed to the side in favor of creepy visuals and some pretty explicit violence. And let's face it, no one is watching a movie called Sick Nurses for the story - it promises hot nurses getting killed by a scary ghost, and delivers in spades. Most of the scenes with the ghost are pretty creative and original - at least, I think they are. I've seen so little Asian horror (this is my first Thai horror film, I think) that they could have stolen every scene from other films and I wouldn't know. I do know that I was cringing and gasping and laughing at all the right times, so it worked well for me.
The third act gets a little too heavy with the exposition, and there is a twist that is really stupid that adds nothing to the story, but overall I liked this one a lot for what it was - a trashy, gory, Thai horror film.
