#30 - Let Me In (2010)

Despite many glowing reviews, I missed this one when it came out.  I had very recently seen the original Swedish version, so I didn't feel compelled to view this one right away.  Now that a few years have passed, I've forgotten most of the original and was able to watch this one with a more or less clean slate.  Even though it's been a while, I still feel like this film, with a few exceptions in the details, was really similar to the original.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing - the original was a great film, and so is this one.  Other than making it more accessible for English-speaking audiences, I'm still not convinced there was any reason to do this remake at all, but the end result is great at least.  The car crash scene stands out as the most spectacular thing that I don't remember from the original.  The chilling scene at the pool at the end of the film is still really good, although I thought the original was better.  Of course, that may be because it was new to me and therefore more shocking that time.

If you're a fan of slow-paced and thoughtful horror films, I highly recommend this one.
