#18 - Better Watch Out (2016)
Ashley is babysitting 12-year-old Lucas when they find themselves under attack from mysterious intruders. This starts off as a pretty standard home invasion movie, but quickly takes a very hard turn for the unexpected. That's all I'm going to say about the plot, because anything beyond that would be serious spoilers.
I went into this pretty much completely blind - I didn't even know it existed until maybe an hour before I watched it - and was very pleasantly surprised. It has a very dark sense of humor coupled with some fairly unsettling scenes, which makes for a sort of strange tone that will probably put some people off, but I thought it worked. Levi Miller, who plays Lucas, is really fantastic and probably the best thing about this movie.
This isn't a perfect movie, but it is definitely very original and worth checking out. If a mashup of You're Next, Funny Games, and Home Alone sounds good to you, this may be right up your alley. Recommended.
Oh, and DON'T watch the trailer - it gives pretty much everything away.
