#34 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
I don't think a description of the plot is necessary for this one. This is a remake of the 1956 film of the same name, which is a classic, but I think this one is even better. Kind of like Carpenter's The Thing versus the original The Thing From Another World. Comparisons to The Thing are apt in other ways, too - both are really great sci-fi/horror films about aliens posing as humans, and both feature fantastic practical special effects. They'd make a great double feature, actually.
This is one of my favorite horror films of the 70's, which is saying a lot because I think the 70's was the best decade for horror both in the US and around the world. Definitely one of the best sci-fi/horror films ever made. Plus I got to be a film nerd and explain to Julie what a "dutch angle" was. This gets my highest recommendation.
