#15 - Hush (2016)
(dir. Mike Flanagan)
Mike Flanagan is becoming one of my favorite horror directors working today. After Absentia and Oculus I was already sold on him, and here he has made something totally different from those films but still excellent. This is a really effective thriller, about a deaf and mute woman who lives alone being terrorized by a killer in a mask. The premise is pretty simple, but the plot unfolds in ways that are both realistic and unexpected. The concept of a horror film with very minimal dialogue is great too, and both the leads do an excellent job acting mostly through body language.
Not much else to say about this one - it's a very good movie and is currently available on Netflix streaming, so go check it out.
