#30 - Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)

Count Dracula needs a new brain to put into Frankenstein's monster, one that is simple and easy to control, and Wilbur's just happens to fit the bill.  In order to stop this plot, Chick and Wilbur (Abbott and Costello) must team up with the Wolfman.  Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney Jr. reprise their respective roles as Dracula and the Wolfman, but the Monster is played by Glenn Strange, who just isn't a replacement for Boris Karloff.

Obviously this is a super silly movie.  The humor feels dated, but in a good way - it reminds me of a Looney Tunes cartoon, or one of the great "road" movies with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, with plenty of slapstick mixed with some great witty dialogue between the two comedians.  The monsters are pretty inept, and their plan doesn't really make sense, but it is still fun to see them all on screen at once.

Not much else to say about this one, other than that it is a classic for a reason.  Essential viewing for fans of classic Hollywood films, campy humor, and the Universal monster movies.
