#29 - I Bury the Living (1958)

(dir. Albert Band)

A newly appointed cemetery director discovers that he can apparently cause a person to die by simply changing the status of their plot from "empty" to "occupied".  At first everyone is convinced this is a coincidence, but as it occurs again and again the police begin to grow suspicious.  This feels like it could have been an episode of The Twilight Zone, and I actually think it would've benefited from being a bit shorter, even though it is already a pretty short film.

I didn't care for this one too much.  The plot is repetitive and the concept is kind of silly.  I mean, the poor guy is convinced that he is causing the deaths of innocent people, yet he keeps doing it over and over again anyway.  The ending has a "twist" that is really dumb and in my opinion ruins the movie.  It's not all bad - the acting is solid and there is some nice noir-ish cinematography throughout, but it wasn't enough to really hold my interest.
