#8 - Videodrome (1983)
Like most of David Cronenberg's work, this film explores the boundaries between flesh and technology, sex and violence, the self and the media. It's hard to argue against "Dr. O'Blivion"'s assertion that the television screen has become a retina for the mind's eye, and that things we experience on a screen can be more real than reality sometimes. This is even more true today than it was in the 80's, perhaps suggesting that we are moving in the wrong direction.
This is arguably Cronenberg's masterpiece; a dark, surreal, and eerily prophetic look at how our selves are intertwined with technology and the media.
