#29 - The Dead (2010)

The Dead (2010)

This is a pretty dull zombie movie that is only notable because most of it was shot in Africa, and there are some nice landscape shots.  Other than that, it's basically the most generic zombie story possible.  Generic American soldier guy is running from zombies, meets up with generic African soldier guy, they kill a bunch of zombies, movie ends.  There is very little suspense, because in the opening scene we see that American soldier guy is alive and alone in what is obviously the future, so there is never any doubt about who is going to make it.

The acting is completely flat and boring, and the characters are completely forgettable.  I just watched it a few hours ago and I already forgot the main character's name.  Almost every scene involves someone frantically trying to do something while the zombies slowly move in.  Will he open that crate in time?  Will he change that tire in time?  Will the car get out of the mud on time?  The answer is always yes, since we already know he makes it to the end.  The special effects are pretty decent at least.

Dull and stupid, I can't recommend this one.
