#10 - Rest Stop (2006)

(dir. John Shiban)

Nicole and her boyfriend Jesse are on their way to L.A. when they pull over at a remote highway rest stop.  After using the bathroom, Nicole comes outside to discover that Jesse and his car have disappeared.  At first, she thinks it is a prank, but soon finds that she is being stalked and harassed by a mysterious man in a pickup truck.  Then we get about an hour of her trying to escape, some weird stuff happens, the movie ends and then you realize that you've just wasted 80 minutes of your life.

I get the sense that this movie once had an actual plot, but that all the scenes that actually explained anything were cut out.  Who is the guy in the truck?  Is he a ghost, a demon, or just a crazy redneck?  Where is he constantly driving away to?  What's the deal with the creepy family in the RV?  What's with the girl in the closet who disappeared in the 70's?  Absolutely nothing is ever explained or even hinted at, and we're left with a bunch of scenes of unnecessary violence being inflicted upon characters we don't really like or even know anything about.

This was a pretty bad movie and I'm having a hard time thinking of anything else to say about it.  A boring, pointless, and really poorly done film.
