#23 - Bloodstone: Subspecies II (1993)
(dir. Ted Nicolaou)
Picking up right where the first film left off, this film mostly follows Michelle as she fights turning into a vampire. She steals the "bloodstone" from Radu, who then hunts her down in an attempt to retrieve it. This was better than I was expecting, and maybe even a little better than the first one. There are fewer special effects used here, but the ones that we get look much better than before. There is some great makeup too, both on Radu and on his mother, who looks less like a vampire and more like a rotting corpse.
As far as b-movies go, this was pretty good, and it improves on almost every aspect of the first film. This isn't a great film, but it's very entertaining, and if you like vampires I'd recommend checking out this series. Compared to some of the other junk that Full Moon put out, this is practically a masterpiece. It ends with a cliffhanger, and I'm looking forward to watching part 3 soon.
