#18 - Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre (2009)
A diverse group of tourists set out on a three hour tou... er, whale watching cruise, but become stranded when the captain is mortally wounded in a freak accident. A decrepit whaling vessel picks them up, but instead of being rescued, they find themselves at the mercy of a sadistic and homicidal family of ex-whalers. Despite the nautical setting, this is a pretty standard slasher that didn't do a whole lot for me.
Based on the title and the premise, I really thought this was going to be a tongue-in-check horror/comedy, but aside from the occasional weak attempt at humor, the film is played pretty grim and straight. Gunnar Hansen (aka Leatherface) gets top billing on the DVD case, even though he is not a main character and really only appears in a few scenes. He isn't really much of an actor, but neither is anyone else in the cast, so he fits right in. Pretty much every aspect of this film is mediocre - never offensively bad, but bland and forgettable.
So, unless you really have a thing for people getting killed on boats, I don't recommend this movie at all. Dull and forgettable.
