#6 - Creep (2014)
(dir. Patrick Brice)
Answering a Craigslist ad for a videographer, Aaron finds himself spending the day filming the bizarre Josef, who may or may not be a psycho killer. There isn't much else to say about the plot without spoilers. Shot found-footage style entirely from Aaron's camera, with him and Josef as the only characters, this is a really simple and effective thriller. It is a bit of a very dark comedy too, and I thought it pulled off the balance of humor and horror very well. Josef starts off as sort of an oddball, but he gets seriously creepy as the film goes on. Even as things get desperate, though, there are still some really absurd moments to break the tension.
Not much else to say, other than that I really liked this one. Tense, scary, and darkly funny. Currently on Netflix streaming - check it out.
"Why are you doing this to me? Are you just trying to scare me? Well, I'm terrified - you won."
